Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 November 2026
This policy explains what Baggle ("Baggle", "we", "us") collects when you use the Baggle browser extension, the Baggle web dashboard, or baggle.net (together, the "Service"), and what we do with it. Baggle is currently pre-launch — we're still finishing the product before any public release — but we wanted this in place now because the Service already stores real account and shopping data for the people trying it.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we store your email address and password (handled by our database provider, Supabase, which never gives us your password in plain text). If you add a name in "Edit profile," we store that too.
Profile picture (optional). If you upload one in "Edit profile," your browser first crops it to the part you chose and removes any camera metadata (such as location), then we store that small image with our storage provider, Supabase. It is saved at a web address that works without logging in, so anyone who has the exact link can open the image; the link is long and unguessable. Your picture is shown to other signed-in Baggle users next to your name (for example on your shared bags, in search, and to the owner of a bag you follow or like), and they can click it to enlarge it. This applies whether your account is public or private. Your display name and picture can also be seen by anyone, without an account, in the "Suggested accounts" preview on baggle.net (see "Public previews" below), whether your account is public or private. For a private account, that preview shows only the name and picture, never any bags. You can stop appearing there by deleting your account.
Bags and items. When you save something with the Baggle extension, we store the product's title, price, size (if you add one), the store it's from, its image, its page link, and when you saved it — organised into the "bags" you create.
Price and stock history. To send you price-drop and back-in-stock alerts, we periodically re-check the page link of each saved item and store the price and stock status we find.
Social features, if you choose to use them. Baggle lets you make your account and individual bags public, so a friend with their own Baggle account can open a share link, follow a bag, and like it. If you do this, we store: your account's public/private setting, each bag's own private setting, who follows which bag, and who's liked which bag.
Following people and following bags are separate. Following a single bag means you get Alerts about that bag (for example when its owner adds something). Following a person's account means their new activity appears on your For You page. For a public account, following is instant; for a private account, the owner has to accept your request first. We store who follows which account, and whether a request is pending or accepted. People can see who follows them and who they follow, and you can unfollow at any time.
Comments and sending bags. You can leave a comment on any bag you can open. A comment is shown, with your display name and picture, to everyone who can open that bag, and the bag's owner can delete it (you can delete your own at any time). For a bag that has been sent to specific people, only those people and the owner can see its comments. You can also send a bag to specific people on Baggle. They get a notification in Alerts, and if the bag is private they can open that one bag, and comment on it, until you take it back ("Unsend") or delete it. You can reply to a comment (replies are shown under it) and like comments; the person whose comment it is can see who liked it and who replied, and gets a notification. We store the text of your comments and replies, who wrote them, when, which comments you liked, and who you sent bags to and any short note you added. We limit how fast comments and sends can be made to reduce spam. If you block someone, you stop seeing each other's comments and can't send bags to each other. Deleting a comment also deletes its replies and likes. Deleting your account removes your comments, replies, likes and the bags you sent.
Public previews on baggle.net. If you set your account to public, bags you haven't marked private can appear on the baggle.net homepage, which anyone can see without an account. That preview shows only the bag's name, your display name, how many items it holds, how many likes it got this week, a few of its item photos, and how many people follow your public bags. Accounts can also appear in a "Suggested accounts" preview, which shows your display name and your profile picture (if you added one). For a public account it also shows how many public bags and followers you have; for a private account it shows nothing else. Item titles, prices and store links are only visible to signed-in Baggle users. Set your account or a bag back to private and it stops appearing.
Profile pages. Signed-in Baggle users can open anyone's profile page. It shows three numbers: how many bags the account has, how many followers, and how many accounts it follows. They can tap Followers or Following to see the name and picture of those accounts, a bit like Instagram. This works for private accounts too. What a profile page shows beyond that is up to each bag: only bags marked public (on a public account) can be opened by other people, and a private account's profile page shows no bags at all, unless its owner has accepted your request to follow it. On a private account, any signed-in person can send a follow request; the owner sees the requester's name and picture in their Alerts and can accept or decline. Once accepted, that person can see the owner's bags (except any bag the owner has marked private) and appears in the owner's Followers list; either side can end it at any time. You can also report an account (you choose a reason and can add a note; reports are stored so we can review them and are not shown to the person reported) and block an account: a blocked account can't see your profile or bags, can't follow you or request to follow you, and any follows between you are removed. A block is stored against your account until you remove it, and the blocked person isn't told. If you pick a backdrop colour for your account, the name of that colour is stored on your profile and shown behind your profile page to signed-in people who visit it (on a public account); it is only a colour.
Clicks through to shops and where saved items came from. When you press "Go to store" on an item, we record which item and which shop it was, and when. When you save a copy of an item from someone else's bag with "Bag it", we record where it came from. If an item came from another person's bag, we use this to work out whether a creator who shared it should be credited if people buy through it. This is not shown to other people. We keep click records for 13 months, or until you delete your account.
Finding people. Like most social apps, Baggle lets any signed-in user search for people by name. A search result shows the person's name, their picture if they added one, and whether the account is public or private. If an account is private, nothing else about it is shown: its bags stay hidden. If you would rather not appear in search, you can leave out your name in "Edit profile," but your name is how friends find you.
Picked for you. When you are signed in, the For You page can suggest items from public bags that you might like. These suggestions use only what you do inside Baggle: the items in your own bags, the bags you follow and like, and any interests you choose to tick. They do not use anything from other apps, other websites, or your wider browsing, and we don't buy or receive that kind of data. Your interests are stored in your own account and are not shown to other people. You can change your interests or switch personalisation off at any time from "Tune your For You" on the For You page; with it off, you simply see what is popular and new.
You can choose not to be suggested to other people by turning off "Appear in suggestions" in Edit profile. People can still find you if they search for your name.
What we don't collect
The Baggle extension only reads product details from a page when you actively use it to save an item — it doesn't track, log, or send us the pages you browse otherwise. Baggle.net and the web dashboard don't run any analytics or advertising trackers today.
The Baggle extension only reads a web page when you click the Baggle icon on it. It reads the product name, price, image and link from that page so you can save it. It does not run on pages you haven't opened it on and it does not record the sites you visit.
If you are signed in, the extension also checks your account for new price-drop, sold-out and back-in-stock alerts about every 15 minutes and may show a desktop notification. This check only contacts Baggle's service, not the shops.
Cookies and similar technologies
Baggle.net and the web dashboard don't set cookies of their own. To keep you signed in, the dashboard stores a sign-in token in your browser's local storage, and the extension stores it in the browser's extension storage. The dashboard also briefly holds the name and picture of a person whose page you're viewing in your browser's session storage, so pages load smoothly. This is needed for the Service to work. The token is removed when you log out, and the session storage is cleared when you close the tab.
We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies today. Google Fonts, which loads this site's typeface, receives your IP address when your browser fetches the font.
If that changes, for example if we add advertising, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it. Once you leave Baggle for a shop, that shop (and any affiliate network it uses) may set its own cookies, which are covered by its own policy.
How we use your data
- To run the Service: storing your bags, checking prices, and sending you alerts.
- To provide the sharing, following, and liking features you choose to turn on.
- To send account-related emails, like confirming your email address or resetting your password.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Affiliate links
Baggle has the technical groundwork in place to route "Go to store" links through an affiliate network (such as Skimlinks or Sovrn Commerce), which could earn Baggle a small commission on purchases made that way at no extra cost to you. This isn't switched on yet. If and when it is, clicking through to a store may pass the destination link through that network before you arrive — the product link we've stored for you doesn't change either way, and we'll update this policy when it goes live.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of outside services to run Baggle, each only for the purpose described:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and the automated job that checks prices. This is where all the data described above actually lives.
- GitHub Pages — hosts baggle.net and the web dashboard as static files.
- Google Fonts — loads the typeface used on this site; your browser connects to Google's servers to fetch it.
We don't share your data with anyone else, except where required by law.
Security
Your data is protected by row-level security rules enforced directly by our database, not just by the app's own code — meaning each person can only ever read or change the rows the rules explicitly allow, whether that's their own data or something another user has deliberately made visible to them (like a public, followed bag). Baggle only ever ships a restricted, public API key in the extension and dashboard; nothing with broader access ever leaves our servers.
Your choices
- You can make your account or any individual bag private again at any time.
- You can unfollow or unlike a bag at any time.
- You can change your display name at any time.
- You can change or remove your profile picture at any time, which deletes the stored image.
- You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard, which deletes your bags, items, and social activity along with it.
Children's privacy
Baggle isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
